Psalm 51

Happy Monday 😊☀️ this is the day The Lord has made! What a sweet gift to be His child! -by London Lynn

Read psalm 51

Living in a modern world with mental stimulation and a culture that tells us we can do no wrong and that our truth is truth it can be hard for us to naturally see our sin. Yet it is there. We need a Savior every day. Every moment. Always.

“Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.”

Psalms 51:4

God wants to teach us wisdom in the secret heart. When we unveil our sin and being it before Him we can then be transformed by the working of the Holy Spirit.

Take time now to confess sin.

Lord Jesus,

Show me areas that I have sinned deep down, show me areas that have been secretly given over to sin. Make my spirit sensitive to your pruning.

Often times we don’t yield to Christ Lordship and therefore we can be unaware of our sin. It is a sweet blessing for our sin to be revealed everyday because it shows the softness of our Spirit to our own depravity.

One of my favorite verses, take sometime today to pray this over yourself,

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” Psalms 51:10-12

Our deepest crave should be to be purified of heart. To be transformed in every neuron connection of the brain, pattern of the mind and heart posture. When we realize the worldly patterns or rhythms we have been walking in we then can replace them with Christs word and dance to His rhythms.

In this passage David knew the sin that he committed and is turning away from it asking God to change Him.

“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.”

Psalms 51:17

We can see God wants our honesty. He doesn’t want the show or the “Christianeese” answer.

In the last two verses it talks about Zion which is a reference to Gods people. We are all connected and we NEED to be in authentic community building one another up, worshiping, admitting sin struggles and pushing each other towards Christ.

“May it please you to prosper Zion, to build up the walls of Jerusalem. Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous, in burnt offerings offered whole; then bulls will be offered on your altar.”

Psalms 51:18-19 NIV
