He is our steadfast fortress. How often do we go to what we know to find refuge. We can go to people, routines, familiarity, our parents to find what God promises to us. The problem between finding refuge in this world or people of this world is that they are not consistent.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah”
Psalm 46:1-3
Refuge: Shelter or protection from danger or distress.
We can put that definition right back into the verse and be comforted that we have a consistent, safe, strong God who we can always run to.
Often times we are unaware of the fact that we are going to people to find refuge instead of God. Where do you run when pressure is on? Where do you go when things get rough. Keep your first love your first love.
Challenge:
““Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah” Psalm 46:10-11
To be still is to rest and remember who Christ is. The enemy is always going to be trying to “busy” us to the point of exhaustion, fatigue. My challenge today is to be still in His presence. The enemy wants us to be so busy that we can’t reflect on our own hearts posture towards God. Take 5-10 minutes and be still before Him.
Question:
• Where are you finding refuge? (Success, how people see you, your own abilities, family)
