“The Lord will deliver them to you, and you must do to them all that I have commanded you. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:5-6‬ ‭NIV‬

In this part of Deuteronomy (always important to put in context the word of God) Moses is handing off the leading to Joshua. Moses could only go so far and needed to pass the baton if you will. In this part of the Bible it shows us that the law can only take you so far we need Gods grace and we must have faith to enter into the full blessings of God! Moses was getting old and passing down the leadership. Joshua is now the leader. Fear would most likely gripped his heart that is what Moses says “do not be afraid”.

Do you feel as though you are unable? Maybe discouraged? God brought you into the world created for such a time as this. For this day and age for this time. He will deliver us. He is with us!

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.””

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Fear wants to rob you of all peace and take your mind and eyes of Jesus and unto the world. Fear cripples you into believing lies about yourself and more importantly about God.

Fear of the Lord is good.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Fear of man is not good.

Fear of man can lead someone into complete anxiety, even to the point of not being able to function. It can hinder you from daily activities and can harm your physical body.

“Terrors overwhelm me; my dignity is driven away as by the wind, my safety vanishes like a cloud.” Job 30:15

‬‬Fear creeps in when we take our eyes off of Jesus, off His word and unto our circumstances.

Fear: to respect highly; to feel reverence and awe for; to be afraid of (n) profound reverence toward God; anticipation or awareness of danger.

Reverence: a deep respect; honor; awe

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We can fear one of two things, God or man. When we take our awe (eyes/hearts) off of God they can are put onto man therefore fear so easily creeps in. Be honest with The Lord in these moments repent of taking you’re eyes off the Lord and turn from your ways. Where love is (God) there can be no fear.

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,” Hebrews‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let’s run this race to the best of our abilities. Not giving into fear but having our eyes so set on Christ, being yielded to the Holy Spirit. Let us choose today to put our eyes on Christ and to fill our minds with things glorifying to Him! You can overcome with Christ!! He’s got you!!

Questions: Be completely honest with yourself who do you live to please? Who do you respect? How has fear affected your life? What fear have you held that you need to surrender? Invite Jesus into those moments ask Him what He wants to reveal to you!
