Prayer

For I am lowly and have nothing to give on such a Holy topic besides what the Father has so graciously taught me through His precious word. Apart from the great teacher I have no words to express. As I was sitting on sunset cliffs this week preparing for a message I was going to give on prayer I was reading the sermon on the mount.

Prayer is the path way to being in His presence and living in His peace. Prayer is communication with God. It is a consistent thing, some moments you are talking about how you’re doing, others is deep and interment. But daily conversation with God is prayer. It aligns us, to partner with God and partake in His daily moment by moment blessings.

We first must look at Jesus life. When we look at Jesus life we can then know how we are called to live ours. Let us learn from the great teacher. In Matthew 14:23 we see that Jesus had just dismissed the crowds and He went to go pray… this was right before Him walking on water. Prayer charged Him and aligned Him. And again in Mark 1:35 we see that Jesus woke early in the morning and prayed. He prayed before anything else.

Lets get into the scripture and learn from Jesus through MATTHEW 6:9-15

“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,”

⁃ PRAYER POSITIONS our hearts in humility realizing that He is Holy and should be reverenced.

“your kingdom come,”

⁃ PRAYER gives PERSPECTIVE that it is Christs will to be done. How do we know what His will is to then pray for His will? His will is His word, praying scripture and tuning to The Spirit.

“your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.””

⁃ PRAYER PRODUCES His will to be done in our lives. It produces deeper perspective of aligning our desires to fit Christs will.

“Give us today our daily bread.

⁃ PRAYER PROVIDES what we need every day. Through Prayer our Spirits are filled with nutrients. He gives us what we need for each day so we become dependent on HIM daily.

“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”

⁃ PRAYER PURIFIES our hearts of sin and un forgiveness which hinders us from walking in the Spirit and having a Kingdom mindset. Prayer purifies our hearts and allows God to make us more like Him.

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

PRAYER PROTECTS us from the evil one and our flesh.

Prayer positions our hearts to produce Christ-like character by providing what we need through the purification of our will to align with His which protects us from the evil one, resulting in our partnership with Christ in what He’s doing on earth in which we become partakers in the blessed life of oneness in Him.

Lets put it in practice:

  • We know that praying in the Spirit is what we are called to. Verses to pray:

  • Philippians 3:8-11

  • Philippians 3:13-14

  • Philippians 1:9-11

  • Ephesians 3:14-21

  • Psalm 51:10-12
