Nothing Wasted

DEVOTIONAL: nothing wasted

In the book of john chapter 6 Jesus feeds many people with a couple loaves and fish. What is interesting to observer first is how Jesus asked his disciple how to provide for all these people. It says in verse 6 “He asked only to test him.”

How interesting that the Lord tested him. Sometimes we see something impossible and the Lord allows the test to reveal what is really going on in our hearts. God always has a plan and nothing goes waisted but in the moment of being tested where do you turn?

Do you turn to our miracle working God or do you allow the impossible to define you? In these moments we are to rest and remain on the truth. God works in the waiting, God provides everything we need, He waists nothing.

Later on in the story after Jesus had provided... He always does:

“Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.”

John 6:11

Jesus provides what we need they had as much as they wanted. In the moments of being tested remember who God is. Trust in Him.

God doesn’t waist anything but uses everything.

“When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.””

John 6:12

How beautiful that in the challenge and in the moments of “ahhh I don’t know how this is going to turn out” the Lord wants to bless us with Himself, with the truth. Nothing goes waisted in the Kingdom of God. Waiting is active trust.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

Psalms 20:7

Where you put your trust matters. Sometimes you’re not going to feel like trusting but you must remain in the truth even when you can’t see it.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Hebrews 11:1

Have faith even when you can’t see the end result.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

Seek The Lord be faithful to show up and abide in Him!

To process: where do I go when things get shaky? Is my first response to trust and have faith or to fear and question? What does the Lord want to teach you through this?
