God's Hand- 1 Samuel 2:1-11

“Then Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance. “There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. “Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed. “The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength. Those who were full hire themselves out for food, but those who were hungry are hungry no more. She who was barren has borne seven children, but she who has had many sons pines away. “The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up. The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. “For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them he has set the world. He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness. “It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be broken. The Most High will thunder from heaven; the Lord will judge the ends of the earth. “He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.” Then Elkanah went home to Ramah, but the boy ministered before the Lord under Eli the priest.”

1 Samuel 2:1-11

“Delight in your deliverance.”

Deliverance: Release from captivity, slavery, oppression, or any restraint, Rescue from danger or any evil.

Let’s take a second and pause and remember. What had God saved you from? How has He released you from captivity or slavery from your own thinking? Lies? Or even saved you from a harmful relationship. Or physically from something dangerous? Let’s take a second and write down what God has saved you from!

He is a good Father who wants what’s best for us, therefore He delivers us from danger and evil. There is no one like Him. He is our rock, our strength. My friends would make fun of me on road trips because I would be so fascinated by the giant rocks all around! They are magnificent specially on the 101 going north! Wow but God is even bigger and more secure then that. He won’t be shaken. How does this truth bring confidence to your personal situation? How have you seen Him be your rock in the past?

Nothing happens without Gods sovereign hand, “The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up. The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts.”

I was reading this and got so much comfort. God knows the timeline of everyone’s life, what we will achieve what we won’t. But we can rest in knowing that we have what we need. He brings life and allows death, but ultimately for our good. I have felt so much death personally either spiritually or seeing physical death around me in the last year. I can say that this verse brought so much comfort to know that what has happened is not a surprise but I can rest knowing He already knew.

Sometimes I can be hard to accept this truth that God already knows because there’s much pain in death. Whether that’s death of a relationship, death or a dream, or a dear friend. It doesn’t make it easier but we must face it, and replace the feelings of “why” with the truth.

The Lord brings poverty and wealth. Sometimes it can be easy to think “I did this and I deserve that” but the reality is, God gave you the ability to make the money, He opened the doors, He gave you the brain!! It’s all about Him. On the contrary there are times we have less because God has plans for us in different ways. He humbles us in dependency upon Him as our provider. Wherever you find yourself know there is sweet treasures in the process if we look at Him!

“For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them he has set the world. He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness.”

Wow let’s take a moment read this again. He guards the feet of those who have surrendered their lives to Him, as their Lord and Savior. When we follow The Lord he will protect us from the things that harm us. We might question what He’s protecting us from in the moment but ultimately we can rest knowing He knows something we don’t know.

“It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be broken. The Most High will thunder from heaven; the Lord will judge the ends of the earth. “He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.”

We have no strength to overcome anything. We must come to the Lord completely desperate and needy. When we go against what the Lord has we will be broken. God is about character refinement so we can ultimately reflect Him more. The areas of our lives that don’t look like Him He refines and breaks. It hurts, it’s sucks, I have had many of those moments and am currently in a season of deeper refinement but when we desire to truly look more like Jesus we come to understand the kindness He has towards us in breaking off the character qualities and things that don’t look like Him!

Sisters and friends be encouraged that God is in control and He cares deeply for you!
